"PAKISTAN INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT CONFERENCE 2008" RESCHEDULED Print E-mail
In order to enable a more robust showcasing of major infrastructure projects and investment opportunities in Pakistan the "Pakistan Infrastructure Investment Conference 2008" earlier scheduled for May 11 – 13, 2008, in Islamabad has been rescheduled and will now be held after the presentation of the budget for the FY 2008-09.

Development and maintenance of public infrastructure is strongly advocated as the key to sustainable economic development and growth at the national level. Strong macroeconomic evidence on the infrastructure-economic growth nexus implies the need for structured and renewed efforts to ensure improved access and quality of infrastructure services. One such strategy that has proven its viability and success is Public Private Partnerships (PPP) in infrastructure. A PPP initiative has been taken by the government to attract private participation in infrastructure projects.

In line with the enunciated objective of the Government to promote the infrastructure development in the country the "Pakistan Infrastructure Investment Conference" will provide a platform for public-private sector dialogue on infrastructure investment opportunities. The multi-faceted conference is envisaged to bring together investors, fund managers, bankers, policy makers, industry experts and multi laterals, to examine infrastructure investment opportunities in Pakistan in various sectors. It will allow relevant public sector institutions to show case specific infrastructure projects and allow multilaterals, donor agencies, international advisors, sector specialists and private sector sponsors including bankers, lawyers and operators a unique opportunity to discuss these projects with a view for collaboration in these projects. Attention will be given to projects pertaining to Urban Mass Transit, Energy, Transport & Logistics, Multipurpose Water Reservoirs, Facilities Management and Municipal Services sectors.

The event is being organized by the Infrastructure Projects Development Facility (IPDF), under the aegis of Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Investment Division & Board of Investment (BoI).
